Baby Wipes

Along with the un-paper towels, I also got a couple fabrics to make some more baby wipes. These are just simple squares of flannel put back to back and sewn together. I use them for baby hineys, baby mouths, baby hands, cleaning off the high chair tray, you name it if it has to do with baby! I get quite a bit of use out of these with my grandson :D

Un-paper Towels

My family can go through a lot of paper towels! I've tried for years to cut that usage down by having hand towels on hand to use for everything ... they still use paper most of the time. Plus, we just didn't seem to have enough on hand to cover it all especially with me using them constantly. So I decided to bite the bullet and just make some. The goal is A. Whole. Slew. Of. Them. Each set is loosely based on those "choose-a-size" paper towels. Two of each set are what you'd call "regular size" while 4 of each set are what you'd call "half-size."

The first two sets that I made I do not currently have pictures of and I sewed them quite a few months ago before my mother died in November. It was babies that got me back into sewing this month. I was missing something I needed to start sewing the baby items so I decided just to whip out some of these real quick since I could at least finish something I started!! I still have two more sets to complete - I was missing red thread for them (which I now have) so they will sit on the back burner until I have a lull in baby items.

I plan on making A LOT more for various holidays.

One of our sons is in the Air Force. These are for him.

My father is an Army Veteran. He served in Vietnam right after his best friend was KIA. These are for him.

I have a matching set to these but on a red background. These are more typically going to be used on any patriotic or special military day.

Our kitchen is mostly black with touches of red and white. We are die-hard Georgia Dawg's fans. I love gingham. Therefore I knew I had to make some when I saw the red gingham fabric!

I don't have a surger so I did the next best thing I could think of ... using one of the stitches on my sewing machine as close to the edge as I felt comfortable and letting the edges unravel as I wash them, then trimming them up.  I didn't use a ruler and mark lines to cut straight so these are very haphazardly cut and consequently sewn!!  But, for now, that's okay with me!

Welcome to Bottoms & Bows!

Welcome to my sewing & creations blog ~ Bottoms & Bows!

Here I will post all of my handmade creations and where I got the patterns or ideas! Along the way I'll have a few Blasts From the Past to showcase a few of my past endeavors.

Bottoms & Bows encompasses so much more than just sewing and crafty creations but it is the "parent company" of side ventures for Greenbean Herbal & Beauty and SugarBear Parties & Creations! So you never know exactly what you might find in these pages ;) However, if you are specifically looking for a particular type of post, just peruse the labels section and click on whatever type of creation you want to see!

You can follow me on Pinterest if you like ~ just click here. At the bottom of my page there is a whole bunch of boards labeled Past Events:: and sprinkled among my boards are things like Gifts:: Made. If I've tried it, I've commented on it!

Bottoms & Bows started out about 11 years ago. Initially, I just wanted to sew diapers and related items. My godson's mother and I were full throttle and getting ready to open an online store. Then my godson died. It was a really long time before I started thinking about sewing again.

However, somewhere along the way, long before I started thinking about sewing again, I began to start making my own herbal remedies and beauty products rather than buy them. This blossomed and is still blossoming - who knows what the final bouquet is going to look like! Obviously, the name of the bouquet is Greenbean Herbal & Beauty :D

Finally, my best friend since Kindergarten created awesome cakes. I mean she created masterpieces! We founded an idea to not just do make cakes but to throw parties. It began as end-of-the-season parties for sports leagues and then began to encompass so much more. Nearly two years ago, she was struck with an aneurysm and subsequent stroke that has left her physically unable to do anything like that. I have not given up hope though!!! She's come a lot farther than we thought she would and she is mentally, completely there - no personality changes, same stinkin' sense of humor, and same encouraging and loving best friend I had before. I've already begun trying to find a one-handed rolling pin (she has use of one arm) for I'm determined that she will help in the kitchen once again! So for the time being, SugarBear Creations is currently only used for family.

I do hope you enjoy yourself! And please, let me know if you made anything I post about and how it turned out for you!!
